Dunoon CARS: working to improve Dunoon's Google Street View with help from a local photographer.

Updated: Oct 1

Dunoon CARS has teamed up with a local Google Trusted Photographer to update the town’s decade-old Google Street View images.

Rob Smith from iDZN has recently become the only Google Street View Trusted Pro in Argyll & Bute. Street View Trusted Pros have to go through a rigorous vetting process, must have all the right equipment and must be distinguished contributors with over fifty approved and published 360 degree photos. Once they have been approved by Google, Pro’s are then able to use the Trusted brand assets for marketing purposes.

iDZN has started capturing Google Street View updates along Argyll Street, so you should start seeing some more familiar sights on the Google Street View soon, as it is currently over 10 years out of date! The process has started with Kent’s of Dunoon, Bookpoint and Gibson’s Electrical - the first shopfronts to be completed under the Dunoon CARS(Conservation Area Regenerations Scheme) project.

It is not only the exterior shots of these shops that are being upgraded. The initiative is also producing interior 360 degree tours, so that viewers can 'virtually' step in off the street to explore the interior, browse the products on offer and get a sense of the layout of the space. The Dunoon CARS logo has also been added into the 360 degree tours, marking its legacy for years to come.
